This was a great opportunity for the company as well as for the appointed team because of the technological research it involved. The product restructuring along the latest web technologies is carried out by Softcodeit under the guidance and supervision of the on site development team.

By using project tracking and online conferencing tools we were able to communicate with teams in different time zones very effectively. We came to realize that being in different time zones has its advantages, as there is at least one team working on the product at any given time. Online collaboration tools with live chat capabilities made it easier for each team to find out what went on when they were offline.

As a general practice, each member of the development team sends a status report which summarizes the work he/she carried out that day and what are the scheduled tasks for the next day. Also a detailed timesheet is maintained by each member which is part of an online reporting system.

These steps give maximum transparency to the client regarding the offshore development process and enable them to make adjustments as they see fit.

One of the large e-commerce solution providers in the U.S.A. needed to higher an offshore team for development and maintenance of their e-commerce platform. Several years back Softcodeit realized the potential in the mobile application area and formed a Mobile Application development section. This move has proved prudent over the years as this particular field has come a long way since then.

One of the developments Softcodeit undertook was an IOS based application for a GPS tracking device. This was a great tracking solution for people, pets and vehicles. The application was developed for IPhone and I-Pad which communicated with a web based interface to get the location of a small hardware device in the tracked object. The application is able to display multiple tracked objects in a list and also on a map.

Another more recent development is an iPhone application which is a promotion tool for retailers based in Singapore. Merchants have a Web console where they can enter coupons, deals, sales and other promotional content. Any user who uses the IPhone Application is able to see these and will be able to visit the shop and redeem the promotions. Application uses the GPS tracking capability in the Smart device to filter the locations near the user.

Case Study For Web Designing and Development

Softcodeit has over the years produced its share of static sites one of which is a South American Web Site for selling condominiums. The main challenge here was to capture the lush greenery surrounding the country and how the modern architectural designs and comforts can co-exist with it in harmony. The Site included flash animations which displayed the layout of the condominiums and picture galleries of the native country side.

The client was very particular about certain aesthetic aspects of the site. Because of that we were in constant communication with him for the duration of the development. The result was a modern-day masterpiece.

As a recent development, Softcodeit had the pleasure of building a Novel concept. The client is a very enthusiastic individual with a really good concept that has the potential of being a house hold name in The United States.

We were also able to guide the client in the right direction when converting the ideas into an actual product by discussing the technical boundaries and the way some aspects can be improved by taking different paths.

This application employed rich media technologies to provide a unique experience to the end user. It involved handling rich media content embedded in a flex application which communicated with a web server to retrieve necessary data.

There were three teams engaged in development parallel to each other. A team for flex related multimedia components, a team for the site design and a team handling the business logic and e-commerce aspects of the application.

One of the foremost legal consultancy firms in Sri Lanka needed to digitize their documenting system.

They were not happy with the document management systems in the current market and preferred a custom made solution.

At this point Softcodeit as their IT consultant stepped in to assist them in the transition. We analyzed their manual filing system and designed a web based document management system. The system was web based because the client needed managers to access it from the comfort of their homes.

Another challenge was the extent of the specialized domain knowledge we had to acquire when building the system. The system has an intricate network of dependencies spread across several forms. This led us to implement a very strict validation system so that the user will not be able to input invalid data and there by break the dependency chain.
