Case Study For IT Consultancy

One of the foremost legal consultancy firms in Sri Lanka needed to digitize their documenting system.

They were not happy with the document management systems in the current market and preferred a custom made solution.

At this point Softcodeit as their IT consultant stepped in to assist them in the transition. We analyzed their manual filing system and designed a web based document management system. The system was web based because the client needed managers to access it from the comfort of their homes. Also because of the sensitive nature of the handled information we needed to provide extra protection for the entire system. The data handled in the system was encrypted and stored with compliance to the countries new data protection laws.

Another challenge was the extent of the specialized domain knowledge we had to acquire when building the system. The system has an intricate network of dependencies spread across several forms. This led us to implement a very strict validation system so that the user will not be able to input invalid data and there by break the dependency chain. We enhanced the application by using asynchronous data transfer because of the number of forms in the application which is cumbersome to use in a synchronous web interface.

At present the system is online and Softcodeit is maintaining the site as requested by the client.
